This Month's INSPIRATION ~ DONYALE LUNA!!!.....view more

Timeless She is!..
The late Donyale Luna was the true definition of  a "Cover Girl". Luna, actress and model, was born in Detroit Michigan on August 31st, 1945 & died at the  age of 34 on May 17th, 1979.  During the mid 60's, she moved from Detroit to New york in order to pursue her modeling career and there she met Photographer David McCabe. Make note, that Donyale WAS and IS the first official black fashion Supermodel, gracing plenty of runways, magazine covers, and movies before the term even existed. Lol.....sorry Beverly, Naomi, & Iman but my heart has a new found fashion love and she's of great inspiration to me!!! ......... click link for more photo's
I just so happened to breeze by this six foot two elegantly unique beauty, while taking a glance @ Uptown Magazine. The picture came across as beautiful and defined , yet distraught & unbalanced (all-in-all Decent I have to admit)!  It was intriguing!. . And after I began doing more research on her I became more interested. For example, when I found out that her mother shot and killed her father because he was abusive; I instantly wanted to know more! Or even learning that her real name was Peggy Ann Donyale Aragonea Pegeon Freeman. Especially when I found out that she was favored by the great Andy Warhol, Salvador Dali, Mick Jagger, Harper's Bazaar, British and American Vogue, Queen magazine (now Harper's and Queen), Paris Match, and all of Europe I was sold. What topped the cake was that she would crawl on the runways, as Supermodel Beverly Johnson once reported...Luna "doesn't wear shoes winter or summer. Ask her where she's from -- Mars? She went up and down the runways on her hands and knees. She didn't show up for bookings. She didn't have a hard time, she made it hard for herself." Unfortunately, that maybe so. As it is said, Donyale had love for LSD and died from a drug overdose. Sadly, this happens to the best of us and my true message behind putting this post up is to "SAY NO TO DRUGS"!...And if you want to change who you are you have to first change how you are living. Talent is a horrible thing to waste.

{Is it just me or does she look like Keri Hilson?}
